Scenes from Supai

Thought I share a few shots from my trip to Havasupai on Friday. This time we hiked in, which gave me a much better view of things close up compared to the helicopter. This is the beautiful sight that greets you at the bottom of the largest descent into the canyon. The village is just 8 miles down the trail.
There were multiple horse/mule trains that day; each followed by a cowboy and thier dog. Most of the supplies for the village, including the mail, is carried in by these hard working and somewhat pitiful animals.
This guy made us laugh. He stopped and munched on this mesquite treee, and then he really had to run to catch up with the rest of the train.
Some of the cacti were blooming.
You know you are getting close to the village once the cottonwood trees start to appear.
Almost there, and feeling good. It was a bit hot-about 80 degrees.
Look, a cute little LDS church-who knew?
This is the view of the hiking trail from the hekicopter. I sat in the front with the pilot. He was sending a text message while flying. Technology-you never can escape it!
Another view from the helicopter. You can see that I had a wide open view in the front of the chopper. It was rather breathtaking!  Hopefully next time I can make it to the turquoise blue waterfalls that are two miles beyond the village, there was only time for business on this trip.

New Wheels

We thought it was time for Charlotte to learn to ride a bike! We picked up this bike second hand at a killer price! It is a nice brand and in really good shape. It has flowers and fairies on it-so she thinks it's great.

She rides very slowly and cautiously, and loves to honk the horn anytime anyone passes by.

We've been out several times and she is slowly getting braver. It will be easier when those little stick legs build some muscle! We look forward to lots of bike riding this summer.

Thought I'd throw in this shot of Olivia. She put her pajamas on upside down the other night and thought she was so clever.

Easter

It was a glorious Easter day today. The sun was shining, and there was hardly any wind. The girls looked so springy in their Easter dresses.

I recently had Charlotte hair cut, since she wouldn't let me comb it. She looks so sweet with her short hair.

Had to share this one-Olivia wouldn't lay down because the grass was slightly wet. Charlotte looks distraught because she fell and scuffed her wrist on a rock. Wouldn't be a proper photo shoot without some tears!

At least she posed in front of the daffodil patch.

The Easter bunny dropped off a couple of nice baskets this morning. Olivia got a cute Unicorn (she's been asking for one for a while).

The Bunny brought Charlotte this cool dragon-it was a big hit!

We went to an Easter festival at a nearby nursery on Saturday. There was an egg hunt, face painting, crafts and a petting zoo. This little guy is 5 days old, he was making the cutest baby goat sounds-poor thing got malled.

A sunny April day was a great Easter blessing this year-we've had snow on Easter before. We are so grateful for the blessings that Jesus Christ's made possible for us. I am so happy to know that our family can be forever. Happy Easter.

Adventures

Today my work day included a chopper ride into the Grand Canyon. There is a Tribe of Indians called the Havasupai that live down there.

Here are some scenes from the ride.

A beautiful aquamarine creek runs through town and eventually leads to several waterfalls. Unfortunately we didn't have time to hike down to the falls; maybe next time.

Here I am with one of our community partners that flew in with us.

I'll admitt the chopper ride was a bit scarey, I do not like heights! But, it does beat a day in the office!
